Welcome to Short Hills

A quaint and tight-knit community minutes from Manhattan

The neighborhood of Short Hills in Millburn Township, New Jersey is quaint and accessible, marked by winding roads and private residences. Nestled along the foothills of South Mountain Reservation, this census-designated community is bursting with scenic views and historic architecture. A popular destination for commuters, Short Hills is just 30 minutes away from Manhattan by car and home to some of the wealthiest properties in the country.

Originally part of Springfield Township, Short Hills was a crucial destination for the Continental Army, led by George Washington, during the Battle of Springfield. The area was later evaluated for a planned community by Stewart Hartshorn and developed to bring people closer to nature while still being accessible to major cities like Hoboken and New York. Through the years, Short Hills has expanded to include multiple resource centers, the 28-acre Greenwood Gardens, and Kearney Connection direct rail service to Penn Station, allowing more people to live in Short Hills and commute to the city. An ideal destination to escape the hustle and bustle, but keep the upscale and luxury amenities of city life, Short Hills has it all. A small-town atmosphere with upscale amenities, Short Hills is an idyllic retreat in the suburbs of Manhattan.
