Known as the “military capital of the American Revolution,” Morristown was a strategic location for meetings, due to its ideal location between Philadelphia and New York. George Washington held several meetings in Morristown and with many talented and skilled residents of the time, Morristown was the premier destination for trade, with local industries providing support for resources during the war. St. Patrick’s Day was declared a holiday by George Washington in 1780 in Morristown and today, this historic town is brimming with things to learn from the past and new experiences to maintain its thriving and bright future.

Offering unique cocktails and live music from Wednesday through Saturday, the Laundromat is Morristown’s “hidden” gem and a favorite destination for the best night out.

Mayo Performing Arts Center brings incredible performers and shows to the neighborhood. With a lineup of star-studded appearances and beloved showcases, the Performing Arts Center is the hub of the Morristown community and the top destination for quality entertainment. Things to Do

 
The biggest and most spectacular night in all of New Jersey, the First Night New Year’s Celebration has been a Morristown tradition since 1992. Providing a fantastic, family-friendly, substance and alcohol-free celebration in the heart of Morristown, the New Year’s event features 50 performances over 15 venues across all genres. Each venue is within walking distance, making the night an easy, walkable experience in the hours before the countdown to a brand new year. The Summer Jazz Festival has brought hundreds of talented artists to Morristown for the last decade. A popular event held annually in September, the festival transforms the downtown center into a musical paradise for one day only.

The Morris Museum is the sole Smithsonian Affiliate of New Jersey and offers opportunities to create life-long learning, discovery, and creativity under one roof. Exhibits range from Urban Art installations and portraits to model train collections and the Murtogh D. Guinness Collection of 750 historic mechanical musical instruments and automata. An eclectic collection set in a historical building, the Morris Museum has unique finds that spark curiosity and enhance the overall educational and explorational experience. Caroline Foster donated her farm to Morristown in 1972 with the intention to create a space for community members to experience the sights, sounds, and smells of rural life. Fosterfields Living Museum does just that and more, providing a working farm using the tools and techniques of decades passed. Visit to learn more about traditional farming and interact with the staff, who maintain the “smoke and mirrors” of the late 1800s. Witness the birth of the animals in the spring, attend a summer camp, and hike the trails of the 200-acre property for a unique experience along the outskirts of Morristown.

William G. Mennen Sports Arena offers ice skating birthday parties, youth and adult league hockey, and an incredibly popular and well-respected "Learn to Skate"program for adults and children.
