Originally a sleepy beach town, Mantoloking has expanded to become a top destination in the years since Hurricane Sandy, which rebuilt the community and expanded its residences. Homes are expanding to 6,000 square feet, which is the average size of newly constructed residences in Mantoloking. Younger generations are looking to purchase mansions in Ocean County — the area has quickly become the “Southern Hamptons” with its affluent population and desire for luxury living accommodations and amenities. For a unique mix of traditional and creative dishes, Used to Be’s Island Eatery is open year-round and offers seasonal, fresh ingredients in every meal. Mantoloking is right on the shore, so fresh seafood abounds in this neighborhood — Used to Be’s is an excellent spot for fried calamari, catch-of-the-day specials, and lobster rolls. If you’re looking to broaden your palate and experiment with new cocktails, they also provide a large selection of packaged goods, craft beer, and imported wine to enhance your meal or upgrade your private party.

Family-owned and operated, Mantoloking Road Alehouse is a staple for the best pizza in town. Menu items include a homemade Alehouse Meatloaf smothered in brown gravy, golden-fried shrimp parmesan, steam-fresh mussels in a spicy marinara sauce, and lemon butter grilled salmon, fresh from the Atlantic.
 

Things to Do

 
Mantoloking Yacht Club hosts sailing races and special events throughout the year, including the popular annual 4th of July Parade which brings residents and tourists from up and down the coast to the neighborhood for the highlight of the summer. The day includes a one-mile race for charity in the morning followed by a community-wide parade (all cars/floats welcome), an awards ceremony, a luncheon, kid’s games, and the Henry Barton Memorial Handicap Race with the culminating fireworks show in the evening. The yacht club is a members-only organization for tennis, sailing, and social events and a member of the ​​Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association.
